about
In keeping with the 'Abandoned Songs...' concept, this song was written by Bob during a phase he calls 'The Displaced Years' in the mid-to-late 1970's. Finally the song has been pulled off the shelf and given it's due.
lyrics
Any Old Strum Will Do (Bryden)
Play it now guitar man
Play it now for real
Know that you are the star man
You show us how to feel
Oh - we’re lost in our worry
Play it loud and draw people near
Attract a crowd so all may hear
Let it each chord dispel some fear
Let each note ring so clear
Oh we’re lost in a hurry
And when we want to feel happy
Because we’re feeling so blue
That’s when we call on guitar man
And any old strum will do
Any old strum will do.
You hold the secret of real wealth
You usher in a season of health
You take hard edges and shape them round
You save our souls with your heavenly sound.
Winter McQuinn mixes soft rock and psychedelic folk for a sound reminiscent of classic pop purveyors like Cut Worms and the Lemon Twigs. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 16, 2024
Shoegaze and soft psychedelia hold hands on this mellow Canadian release which features some subtly great lead guitar. Bandcamp New & Notable May 19, 2017

A reasonably old fan of the AMT lot, have listened to a lot of their albums over the years and seen them 2-3 times live. One of the greatest psychedelic bands I have had the pleasure to see live and meet too!
Anyway about this album, I love the remakings of dark star blues and blue velvet blues, the vocals work so well! IF you are into these guys highly recommend Ozric Tentacles as Ed's playing is on par with Makoto's (both very psychedelic). One of the best in the AMT catalogue in my opinion! atmosphere012
