In 2018, Bob Bryden and Long Day Journey released their album 'Abandoned Songs & Living Room Jams'. The very lo-fi,homemade, highly psychedelic album featured songs long left on the shelf - including 4 from Bryden's Christmas-band phase.

Now, Bob Bryden and Long Day Journey (AKA Rory Quinn) - along with Katie Iarocci have released what Bob describes as his most ambitious album ever. A full double contemporary psychedelic concept album. Amazing, even to the players, is the fact that the album managed to be recorded under the constant strain of pandemic worries and restrictions. 'The present-day recording artist refuses to die!!!'

The album was recorded in Bob's basement, outdoors on Katie's porch and in Rory's living room. It truly deserves it's sub-title: 'Abandoned Songs and Basement, Vestibule, Living Room and Social Distancing Jams - Vol. 2'.

The 18 songs on the album tell the mythical story of 'The Legend of Aquarius and Atomicus' and must be heard in sequence to grasp it's full meaning. The final song on the album is a 20 minute epic entitled 'Warriors of the Golden Spiral'.

I am become the destroyer of worlds.

Long Day Journey #3 (Bryden) It’s a long day journey Frost on the windowsill Longing in my heart and still No word from you - no word from you It’s a long day journey Pressed to a silver spade Lying cool in the shade Of hearts grown warm While days grow cool. Long day journey into love (3x) It’s a long day journey Top of this windy hill Yearning in my heart and still No thought but you - no thought but you It’s a long day journey Light on the open road My river overflows With songs for you - it’s all for you.

Flower Balm 03:14
Flower Balm (Quinn-Bryden) Peace and love my brothers Should apply to everyone Not just the war machine and the feral guns Your wars are sick and pitiful Your wars they are no fun But there’s a simple answer Put a flower in the gun Your angry minds and religious views Breed casualties of war and entertainment for the news Stop the march for power Learn to get along Let’s drop a bomb that’s full of flowers - flowers and a song. It may seem so mundane To make it sound too easy But we’ve got so much to gain and we’ve lost so much already You know this universe can be a cold and heartless place But we’re the ones who choose Just how we end this race. Heck no - we won’t go.
4.
Any Old Strum Will Do (Bryden) Play it now guitar man Play it now for real Know that you are the star man You show us how to feel Oh - we’re lost in our worry Play it loud and draw people near Attract a crowd so all may hear Let it each chord dispel some fear Let each note ring so clear Oh we’re lost in a hurry And when we want to feel happy Because we’re feeling so blue That’s when we call on guitar man And any old strum will do Any old strum will do. You hold the secret of real wealth You usher in a season of health You take hard edges and shape them round You save our souls with your heavenly sound. Guitar, guitar man! Guitar, guitar man!

Eternity Skies (Bryden) Well here you are Looking on while others look away With a heart so open Breaking like the start of a brand new day There where we stand Where the sea meets the sand My heart in your heart and my hand in your hand I see in your eyes eternity, eternity skies With a heart so open Laughing as the waves come rushing in Our hearts become one Long have we been waiting to begin Here where we stand Where the sea meets the sand With my heart in my heart and your hand in my hand I see in your eyes eternity, eternity skies Nothing dies, it never does Life goes on forevermore What is this magic that keeps me in tune? The only answer is - because No point to endeavour more What is so tragic about realms in ruin? Beyond this skin, beyond this sky Something taunts us heavenward What is the lesson we have not yet learned? So let’s begin and don’t ask why A heart will break when hope’s deferred What is the true cost when love’s gift is spurned The ocean will take us again.

We Can’t Ask Alice (Quinn-Bryden) Little girl you’re not prepared Leave your curiosity behind Don’t search the fabrics of your mind What is it you want to find? You may find it blows your mind. We can’t ask Alice. (2X) It’s so unkind, no reason or rhyme Soon you will find it blows your mind It blows your mind What will be one mindless trip You may just get lost inside Just think before you drop this time Reality has been so kind - you may find It blows your mind. Now she doesn’t speak or make a sound Her feet are five feet off the ground Her fantasies spoiled all her facts Now no one knows when she’ll be back Back on track - she blew her mind.

Love’s Hard to Swallow (Bryden) When the light fades away And the tears start to fall Will you give me your hand Will you help me at all When the stormy winds blow It’s so hard to decide Where you should go Or what’s wrong or what’s right Hear the wind and the rain and you just want to follow When the stories of love Seem so hard to swallow. When it all seems so bleak. Nothing seems to ring true. When you’re down in that hole and you don’t have a clue. You gave all and got nothing but a slap in the face. All the good feeling vanishing without a trace. Hear the train whistle blow and the ground here seems fallow and the songs about love just seem so shallow. Can’t live with this pain. Can’t live with this shame. Gotta get through this day without slipping away. There’s no time to delay. Hear the birds taking wing and you just want to follow. When the stories of love just seem so hollow. Hear the wind and the rain and you just want to follow When the stories of love… Love sweet love seem so hard to swallow.

Happenin’ Street (Quinn) Taking a walk on a sunny afternoon Drift down the sidewalk and see what was old become new Scenes that I see like pictures in frames A canvas of colours and no two the same Just patrollin’ my beat on happening street A moment to rest and lay myself on the grass Under the sun I lie and decide my next path So many sights that can’t be ignored So many places that must be explored Just patrollin’ my beat on happening street Just trippin’ along singing my song On a sunny, sunny day. Stories are told by each person you pass by Away blow the clouds and crystal clear are the skies Time moves so slow and hours I’ve been Swinging down north and back up again Just patrollin’ my beat on happening street on a sunny, sunny day

Love in the Atomic Age (Bryden) People wonder why it seems to be no one cares while they’re rushing madly here and there People wonder why it seems to be so hard to care While they’re subconsciously facing despair They need love, love, love in the atomic age. People wonder why things seem to be so unfair While the dollar is crashing and the basket is bare People wonder why their lives seem to be up in the air While over their heads there’s a sword hanging there They need love, love, love in the atomic age People can’t see why some people seem so unaware Life in the dark at the top of the stairs People open their eyes think they’re alone caught in a snare Reach out in the dark find another hand there They need love, love, love in the atomic age. People think suicide might be the best way through La Guerre Just before they decide a dove lands on the square People think consciousness might be the best cure for the nightmare If heaven’s above why can’t we bring it down here? They need love, love, love in the atomic age. Can’t hug a time bomb.

Aquarius Fair (Quinn-Bryden) / Destroyer of Worlds Pt. 2 (Bryden-Quinn-Oppenheimer) Aquarius Fair: Here come the water carriers The curious Aquarians With the sunshine they awoke Their long winter sleep revoked. Floating forth upon the air inclined to join Aquarius Fair. Hydrating body and mind. Travellers of the curious kind. Turn the page to start again An overture to a different end See your life written in the text From one page to the next From chapter to chapter You can choose just as you like For nothing is forever carved in stone and no story’s better lived alone. Come all you travellers So weary and so worn Come to the water’s edge Your burden to be borne Here come the mighty ones Virtuous in majesty Summoning the best in us Going forth to victory Calling us to the fray All our fear is swept away Nothing left to stand in our way as we await the dawning - of the day. Destroyer of Worlds Pt. 2: I am become… the destroyer of worlds. Be still, be still you children fair I rise, I rise, I rise up from my lair Your time, time’s up. Your time is all but done. You’ve had - your day. You’ve had your day in the sun.

Grouch is the only Marx that matters, Every Russian Loves a Beatle song, John is the only Lennon we know, Music is the place we all get along. For 100 years we had no religion. Then Pussy Riot sang their 'Punk Prayer'. Now suddenly everyone is so religious. Putin put them in the Gulag and wanted to leave them there...

Mr. Blues Takes a Trip (Quinn-Bryden) It ain’t that easy. You can’t by. Lonely thoughts surround your head You’re trapped inside your mind. When nothing seems to ease your blues There’s one thing you can do. You can take a trip - take a trip! What was the problem? Why did you cry? It doesn’t make sense except the flight outside your mind. When you’re so sick of feeling blue There’s one thing you can do. You can take a trip - take a trip! Happy vacation land is expecting you, Mr. Blues. Do what you have to do to get on that plane, Mr. Blues. Change is as good as a rest while you’re mind is expanding too. You don’t have to stay depressed, travel is the best, Mr. Blues. It’s so easy. So easy to fly. Just call your travel agent and pick a spot to try. I took a trip but the airline broke my guitar.

Day of the Living Long Hairs - Parts 1, 2, 3 & 4 (Quinn-Bryden) Part One: Aquarius Rising: In the beginning there was nothing but darkness Then the light broke in Aquarius rising through the age of Atomicus A new age about to begin Choosing sides, battle lines being drawn. The mystic forces of the water bearer against the enemies of the dawn. Man the barricades, start the cannonades One with the power, one with the flower The ancient forces for good in the universe against the enemies of the dawn. Part Two: Free From the Fear Disease Wake up when the light shines through Dance barefoot in the grass Circles of sunlight reflect all the wonderful pleasures that Mother Nature has Everything is fine and wonderful in a world made for peace But there’s a threat you ain’t guessed yet A power unrelenting that just won’t cease. Silver sunlight in the morning Quiet sundown every night Free love in the afternoon Everything just out of sight All the children with stars in their eyes Painted faces and a dayglo surprise But round the corner is a bent-over man He masterminds a very different plan. Long hair flowing with the breeze Their choice to live as they please Clear thoughts in a sunny day haze Free from the fear disease. Part Three: Clashing with the Gestapo In the beginning we had only to say the word Only the truth could be told Then came distractions with borders and factions The king of the underworld claimed his gold. Rising from this deep The phoenix ascended Clashing with the gestapo The orchestra played da-capo, da-capo, da-capo Part Four: Fortune Favours the Bold Beyond the meadow there are sights to behold With every sunset some new stories are told The flower people had it right all along There’s only 2 ways, one is right and one’s wrong So take my hand and we will climb to new heights We’ll free the land and we will proclaim our rights Press your body so much closer to mine Our love will grow and flourish more over time With every sunrise fortune favours the bold You feel like sunlight when your body I hold. One day, some day And as the sun lays to sleep So too do the children.

Slam dancing on the planetary stage Boiling over with this pent-up rage Looking for someone I can punch or kick Ramping up viruses to make men sick Carry my anger like a stomped-on flag Cursing the victims and the ones who brag Cutting myself off from every trace of love Cutting myself off from god above Deep in my cave where the bad spirits dwell I give myself over completely to hell
16.
The Promise of Purpose (Quinn-Bryden) How can you say there’s no hope left in sight When we have been giving our all to this fight As long as there’s some breath left in us alive We’ll find a way to survive and to thrive The new day has dawned and it’s enemies rise What they’re trying to do comes as no surprise Don’t be dismayed or detained in your quest Don’t be victimized while under duress The darkness will flee under your steady gaze Your people are standing with you in the fray We’ll move on from here when this cycle’s done But not a minute before this war is won. Hand me that sceptre. Hand me that gown. Banish that spectre. Give me my crown A race made of kings and queens shall prevail. We have this promise - and we shall not fail. We shall not fail.

Street Opera #2 (Bryden) I was strollin’ down the block a streetlight When the vision crept into my brain Something inside keeps pushin’ me baby Sayin’ nothing’s gonna be the same. And if you hear my heartbeat baby Like a river on overflow You’re gonna get that downbeat baby There’s just one thing I want you to know One thing I want you to know That if you fall down I’m gonna catch you And if you get high I’m gonna watch you fly. I was talkin’ like a man insane baby My senses done made for the door I was feelin’ upset, I was swimmin’ in sweat I was seeking light, high and low I was tired, I was wired, I was bad uninspired When the feeling finally found me deranged I got hot in the collar, turned green as a dollar When someone said it’s time for change Don’t you think it’s time for a change? Well the sun came up and the first little pup Took a step toward the shore of the sea He made his first bark and a cosmic spark Ignited half the local scenery Goodnight, good-day, goodbye brother It’s been a pleasure but I sure gotta roll There’s a band downtown makin’ vagabond sounds Like a floodlight splashin’ your soul I was turned, I was burned, I was fallin’ awake From all the secrets that I had to reveal Pump me full of lead and leave me for dead If there’s anything I try to conceal Well the last thing you know is the first thing to go and there’s no one you can ask for help Except your brother standin’ right beside you Lookin’ at you like you look yourself Love your brother like you love yourself.

Warriors of the Golden Spiral (Bryden) I came into this life and my eyes could not help but see That all around me Nothing was familiar There was no one to make me feel that I was not alone Or that there was purpose in my being here From all sides the dark forces at work in the material world Sought to make me renounce my heart’s recollection of some purer reality Many hard battles were fought on the field of my soul’s honour and not all were won Many times it seemed that horrible spectre had succeeded and my cup was surely smashed And yet, in these dark hours of dire conflict and most painful realization There was a voice within… Faint and obscured by my mind’s mad prancing but nonetheless audible Speaking softly in soothing tones words of forgiveness and hope And it was to this voice that I listened Above all others and gave greatest heed in gravest times And when at last the sun was summoned and warm winds blew away from my soul’s ship The clouds of storm The voice rose within! and became a great healing power. Which transformed my grief into my joy and my scars into brightest armour And wading through the streams of my thought’s disorder Rediscovered the fount of wisdom and Restored my heart it’s kingdom’s throne And when all my inner struggles ceased The outside world shone in through my soul’s window With a never before imagined lustre A shining glow, an imperial aura Illuminated the material world and helped consolidate my newly found inner solidarity And my body My poor wracked body So long the first victim of my confusion Became as a chariot forged from sterling silver A fitting vehicle for my sojourn in the lands of time And lo! When all seemed too wonderful for improvement There came into my sight a new being. Another of my kind. And it was as in the days of old When the firstborn of our human race Achieving sight of outward vision First beheld in sublime astonishment another of their kind. And there began the great connection that to this day is still maintained. So that Linking hands and hearts and minds Bear fleeting but sure witness to The invisible warriors of the golden spiral in their grand march to the stars. Aum… (4X) Where has all the anti-matter gone? Down that black hole. What is left when everything’s gone? Celestial beings watching over you. Benevolent creatures loving you. Celestial engines… (4X) When things are so tranquil When things are so still The warriors are sharpening The warriors are sharpening their spears We are one… (4X) All these things are comprised of tiny, itty-bitty things All these itty-bitty things are in essence all the same As itty-bitty are these things There is space between them all All these itty-bitty things are moving, grooving without end These tiny itty-bitty things are like a magnet to a friend. All things dance… (3X) Dance all things, dance all things Dance as one (4X) Beat your shield, stomp the ground Stomp the ground right where you stand Never yield, except to things Except to things so fine and grand Call out your mortal enemy Call out the ones you’ve hurt so bad Call out your mortal enemy Call out the ones who make you mad Lay down your shield, become good friends Lay down your shield and make amends When things are so tranquil The warriors are sharpening their spears… (2X) Invisible warriors… (8X) Atavistic memory Akashic Chronicle Library of Alexandria Knowledge of the higher worlds… Warriors fight for peace… (4X) Love is the only thing that’s real Love is the only thing… (7X) Warriors fight for peace.
